Hello,
My name is Greg Phelan, I am a 21 year old male (if you couldn't guess that from the name Greg) from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
I was in training as an Air Traffic Controller with Nav Canada... and, let's just say, that didn't work out. After 25 months of training, they started saying something about "unsafe" and "might kill thousands of people in his first week without an OJI"... and we'll say that there was a mutual decision that training as a controller might not be the best thing for me. They did, however, decide to hire me as a Training Simulation Specialist; essentially I design and program simulation excercises for our ATC simulator here at the regional school in Winnipeg, as well as maintain the simulator.
I have been involved with VATSIM since its inception, served as Edmonton FIR Chief and Chief Instructor for VATCAN at one time, and now serve as Director, Flight Training, within the Pilot Training group.
I look forward to working on the Pilot Training program over the coming weeks, months, and year(s)
